In testing my site, when I right click on the large image preview and select "download image to disk" from the menu, I get an error message in my download manager telling me "file does not exist". I use a powermac G4 and Safari browser. Would this have anything to do with Cruft-Free URLs? Currently the .htaccess is not writable. What is a Cruft-Free URL anyway? Perhaps the large image previews are being generated from a virtual gallery rather than the actual image location. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
T2

I've been using Plogger for a few months and it's great!

I accidentally uploaded a second picture to one of the albums that had the same file name as an existing picture. When I deleted it, it deleted both pictures (which was fine) but ever since then, the entire gallery which contained that album won't load up at all. It just returns an error. Have a look at http://pictures.teamgenesisracing.com in the "Team Projects gallery". I can view and edit the album just fine in admin mode. How can I fix this?

tia,
ttyR2

I have downloaded and implemented plogger here, www.tdako.com/plogger and I tweaked it a bit. Just a bit.
What I'd like to do now is one of two things:

1) Make the comments in such a way that they open into a small pop-up window. The chances here are that if a viewer has a pop-up blocker, the comment window might get blocked

or

2) Use something similar to Show/Hide Details underneath each picture. So there a link that would open the comments inline or the fields to add the comments.

I've seen it before on other sites, but I don't know if it is possible here.

Thanks a lot in advance
twum

 Hi,

I'm from Belgium (the part where they speak Dutch) and I am 'webmaster' of a website for kids (from 3 - 15 years old). Those kids doesn'r understand English. Therefor I thought it could be usefull to translate all the used words in dutch, but maybe, if the develoment team likes this, you can put all the used terms in 1 file and get it from there. This way, it is very easy to choose your own language (it is just a configuration variable) and i think you can reach many more people.

If you are interested, I will try to set up the Dutch translation... If you would like to see an example: you can download dokuwiki (http://www.splitbrain.org/_media/projects/dokuwiki/dokuwiki-2005-09-22.tgz?id=projects%3Adokuwiki&cache=cache) and see what I mean in /inc/lang.

I don't know whether it is a lot more work or not, but I think it would be a good idea?? (Maybe you already have another solution in mind??)

 Hello,

MY ISP (free, a well known french isp) is setting the maximum time for a php script to execute to 30sec which means that after around 15photos import the script fails... It seems it works for these 15photos and I need to redo the thing again for the following. 2 Questions :
1- Am I sure that, as the script break elsewhere, that the latest photo was well imported? In fact if plogger delete from the upload directory the photo only at the very end, it should be ok
2- More important. If I have 100+ photos to import it is really a nightmare to do the import (number of photos)/15 ... Is there a way to break this limitation? Can't be an option to split the import process in several 29sec script? Which means that plogger will automatize the fact to do several import of 15 photos.....

thanks
Pascal

This sounds stupid, but I really like everything about Plogger, except for the way the thumbnails are shown. And now I would like to now how others think of it, because no one mentioned this before on this forum, so perhaps I'm the only one?

It's like this: The 'normal' thumbs (so NOT cropped) look sometimes awfull when an image (and therefore the thumb also) is really wide, and next to it is a tiny vertical thumb. Also the floating around the page causes it to be a little chaotic.

The cropped thumbnails look esthetic and evenly spread, but they are cropped. I have for instance some photos which look rather alike, with the main differences at the side of the images. The cropped thumbnails therefore will look allmost the same. Or for example a blackbird, filling the space of the image. The cropped thumbnail will be just plain black, because that's the middle of the image.

Also I think even sized thumbs make it easier to find images you've viewed before, instead of clicking all kinds of thumbs because they resemble the image you're looking for.

Personally I really would like to have this as a third option in displaying the thumbs. But how do others think about this?

The problems seems to be how to display them with pure css and without tables. I think it can be done with pure css (see an example I made: http://www.spoenk.nl/temp/test.html), although it will require some calculations within the loop to get the width and height of each thumb, necessary for the negative top and left margins.
On the other hand, it could also be done with tables. I don't mind. I really love pure css, but if a table is needed I don't mind.

Let's hear some opinions please?
