After upgrading to latest version 1.0RC1 I have these errors showed in every page where the full photo is displayed:

I can't reinstall plogger because I already have albums published, so I can't delete them.

Hi Sid,

Been a while. I have a few plogger instances running stand alone and one integrated in plogger with your help. I just started a new websit in which I'ld like to include plogger again. I've managed to alter the component to work with Joomla 1.7 which seems to work. Only one problem, I cant add images.'

when I go to /plogger/plog-admin the Upload tab shows :

Upload Images

Before you can begin uploading images to your gallery, you must create at least one collection AND one album within that collection. Move over to the Manage tab to begin creating your gallery structure.

Verry strange since I alterd the name of the default install collection and created 4 more. The album in the default collection was also renamed and other albums have been created in de collections.

When I go to manage tab I see
Gallery Stats: You have collections, which contain albums and images. Users have posted comments to your gallery.
But I have no images or comments.

If you have received an error during installation similar to this:

The important part is this:

"You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'Type=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARACTER SET UTF8'"

It means that, in this case, "Type=MyISAM" is invalid. This is because either your version of MySQL or it's configuration does not recognise the statement. Here's how to fix it:

ATTENTION: To avoid frustration, read all of the steps before trying this

1. make a backup copy of /plog-admin/includes/install-functions.php in case something goes wrong

2. open install-functions.php in a decent editor (NOT notepad; on windows, wordpad is necessary unless you have something better)

3. Find the section called "function create_tables()". All of the database tables are created here. Notice the "Type=MyISAM" statement at the end of each table declaration. There are 8 of them (only 6 are created by default)

4. Replace "Type=MyISAM" with "Engine=MyISAM" (without the double quotes) in all 8 declarations and save the file

5. Copy the new install-functions.php file to /plog-admin/includes/ on your site using FTP

6. Use something like phpMyAdmin to check your database... it should be empty, but if there are any tables in it, drop them all.

7. Delete /plog-config.php from your site and re-run the installation script again.

8. You might or might not now get a different error like this one:

"string(226) "You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '(14) NOT NULL, `date_submitted` timestamp(14) NOT NULL, `EXIF_date_taken` va' at line 7"". EVEN THOUGH IT WILL SAY THAT PLOGGER IS INSTALLED SUCCESSFULLY I WOULD NOT USE IT UNTIL INSTALL HAS NO ERRORS.

The issue with this error is the data type declaration of "timestamp(14)". The field length is implicit for this data type so we need to remove the "(14)".

9. Re-edit your new install-functions.php, again in the "function create_tables()" section. In the third declaration, the one that creates the "pictures" table, you will see two instances of "timestamp(14)". Change these to "timestamp" and save the file.

10. Repeat steps 5, 6 and 7 and now Plogger should install without these errors.

Of course, you can do steps 3, 4 and 8 all together, but I would only make changes to fix things.

Install Path Help

I am trying to install at domain.com/protected-directory/photos

When I go to domain.com/protected-directory/photos/plog-admin/_install.php I get an error message stating the file does not exist.

When I move the plogger directory to domain.com/photos/plog-admin/_install.php outside of my protected directory I see the install screen.

Am I able to install the gallery here: domain.com/photos/plog-admin/_install.php but have the actual gallery accessible from domain.com/protected-directory/photos ? How would I make this work easily?

No respond on collection, album, and uploading

Hi everyone, I am looking for help on installation.

Plogger working well in my local machine after I fixed all of the bug, such as eregi()... blah blah blah.
However, when I am uploading to web hosting server, everything screw up. After finish installation, uploading is not working, collection and album cannot be created. If there is error, it will be shown, but it just do not process and create collection and album. Anyone encounter similar problem? Hope can get some help from here

Install Issue: .plogger_pictures' doesn't exist

MySQL client version: 5.0.51a
PHP Version 5.2.17

1. Downloaded the latest install (Version 1.0 RC1, 700 kbs)
2. Changed folder name to photo_gallery and uploaded to server.
3. Created new database
4. CHMOD the content directory to 777
5. Ran installer
6. MYSQL errors having to do with timestamp and TYPEISAM

To make a long story short ------ I'll leave out the 2 days of trial and error, several rain dances, and tell you what worked for me.

Searched forums ---
http://www.plogger.org/forum/discussion/3734/
and applied the following fixes ------

a. So you should go to plog-admin\includes\install-functions.php and replace all occurences of "Type=MyISAM" with "Engine=MyISAM" (there should be like 8 of those)

Then the timestamp needs to be changed

b. install-functions.php (rows 376, 377) file and change:

`date_modified` timestamp(14) NOT NULL,
`date_submitted` timestamp(14) NOT NULL,
to:
`date_modified` timestamp NOT NULL DEFAULT CURRENT_TIMESTAMP ON UPDATE CURRENT_TIMESTAMP,
`date_submitted` timestamp NOT NULL DEFAULT '0000-00-00 00:00:00',

c. Delete Database. Recreate fresh Database. Reinstall fresh plogger files to server.

The first few times -- this didn't work ---- I still got TIMESTAMP errors and was unable to login to admin.
Error: PLOGGER_PICTURES TABLE DOES NOT exist messages.

On checking the database -- there was no plogger_pictures table created. Aha! That explains it.

I checked install_functions.php
and made sure the TIMESTAMP syntax was correct in the:

maybe_add_table(
PLOGGER_TABLE_PREFIX.'pictures'

Note: Through the whole process, I was in constant contact with my hosting tech support. It helps to let them know what you are doing.
For me, a few things were buggy as far as the control panel, session set up and certain database tools. Things that should have worked on the plogger install the first time, didn't). Although they don't provide support for "third party tools" they don't offer, they did fix bugs in the server environment ---- which made all the difference (although they won't admit it).

FINALLY! Voila -- Seamless installation.

Voila! OR SO I THOUGHT until I began to upload photos and manage the gallery. I kept getting thrown out into the login screen.
I discovered that this can be due

a: to your browser settings (cookies -- do you accept them or not. If not make an exception for your domain.
b. Whether you have your history settings on or off
c: session variables not being saved. Depends on your server / hosting environment.

What worked for me:

In plog-config file look for:
define('PLOGGER_SESSION_SAVE_PATH', '');

if not there, you can copy it from the plog-config-sample.php file. Set it like so:
define('PLOGGER_SESSION_SAVE_PATH', '/session/path/given/by/your/webhost/');

I hope consolidating these issues into one file will help save someone time.

P.S - I hope updates to Plogger continue. This is one of the nicest, easy to use open source photo gallery out there!

Trying to install plogger

i am trying to install plogger but it gives an error saying page not found. After the initial configuration, it ask to click as follows:
Please run _install.php to set up Plogger. If you are upgrading from a previous version, please run _upgrade.php.
After clicking on run_install, it says page not found. I have noticed that _install.php is under directory plogger-folder/plog-admin/
but when i click it tries to search in directory : plogger-folder/plog-admin/plog-admin/_install.php
Can somebody help ??

Do I understand correctly that in the html code of the page you want to insert the following:

First line of the .php file ->
In the HEAD section ->
In the BODY section where you want the gallery -

By doing this, I get a blank page (((

Problem with safemode FTP workaround

My webhost has safe php mode on. When I try to complete the plogger config setup I get the error message "Cannot find the Plogger plog-content/images/ directory along the path /public_html/galleries/. Please check your FTP path to Plogger base folder (from FTP login):".

I cannot see where I have gone wrong in entering the FTP path for the safemode ftp workaround on the setup page. The folder structure is /public_html/photogalleries/plogger-content/images .I have tried entering /public_html/photogalleries/ , /public_html/photogalleries , public_html/photogalleries/ , /public_html/photogalleries/plogger-content/images/ etc as the FTP path, but still get the error.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

MySQL Connection Issues during Install (Fixed Now)

Trying to install Plogger on a WinXP box using WAMPS Server. Everything has gone fine until the Administrative Setup where I receive the following 2 errors:

* Cannot connect to MySQL with the information provided. MySQL error: Access denied for user 'user'@'localhost' (using password: YES)
* Cannot find the database Plogger. MySQL error: Access denied for user 'SYSTEM'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

I've confirmed the user "user" does exist, and have 'reset' the password in PHPMyAdmin, and tested in console, so I'm certain that is all configured correctly. I'm unsure of the second error; not sure why it's trying to login as "SYSTEM", however, if I create user "SYSTEM" with no password and re-try the install, I then receive a different error:
"Cannot connect to MySQL with the information provided. MySQL error:"

I've verified that "user" has ALL privileges in both Global, and Database-specific privileges.
Confirmed that database "Plogger" exists

Any thoughts? I'm tech-savvy for the most part, but I don't dabble in web very much.

WAMP: 2.0
MySQL: 5.1.36
PhpMyAdmin: 3.2.0.1
PHP: 5.3.0

I successfully created the database, FTPed the files. I get to the page where it says "Before you can proceed, please click here to download configuration file for your gallery, then upload it to your webhost (into the same directory where you installed Plogger itself)."

When I "click here" - it takes me back to the installation form... which is now blank. I can't download anything. the URL for the "click here" link is "_install.php"

I have full administrative access to phpadmin, etc. Site uses MySQL 5.0.77, php 5.2.12

Hello all,

I've just worked through the upgrade steps to the new version and everything seemed to go through ok. However, when viewing my gallery I am now getting the following errors being rendered at the top and bottom of the page:

Installed but get blank page after log in

Hi all. Installed the latest version of plogger. Install didn't go well but managed to install database no problem. Had to manually create & configure the config file. Using Start Logic hosting and pointed the session variable to a temp folder on my web server in the php.ini file but not in the config file. Session variables are being created as I log in. My problem is when I log in I get a blank web page instead of the plogger control panel. Anyone have any ideas what I may have missed or messed up on?

Can't install Plogger.

My website has been infected with malware recently and as a result, I had to delete my whole plogger gallery. Of course I tried to install it after that, but... it's not working. I've deleted all tables in my MySQL database to make sure it's clean for the new install. I filled all the fields properly (I use safe FTP encoding?) and uploaded the config file according to the instructions. But after clicking on the last "Install", this

Appears. I DO get an e-mail about a new gallery being created, though. I've been trying to solve this for a few hours and to no avail... deleting the whole thing and uploading it again doesn't work either... is there please any solution to this? The gallery was working just fine before. Thank you!

Hi, All..... just joined and am currently setting up the Ploggery Gallery on my website. Most of the install was straight forward and has install to my host server but when i view my gallery i have some script errors at the bottom of my gallery home page to which i am unable to locate and resolve.

Sub directory name is missing in URL

Hello Plogger support team,

First of all i want to thanks for the plogger developers who created such helpful tool for image gallery.

Well i have installed plogger latest version plogger-1.0RC1. But the url is not showing correctly,

it was showing like:
http://www.bangalorepackerandmover.comindex.php?level=picture&id=1

Then i got one solution from Plogger Forum Toipc:
http://www.plogger.org/forum/discussion/3279/windows-url-wrong-without-after-com/#Item_0

By using this script i got "/" after my domain name, and now the link looks like this:
http://www.bangalorepackerandmover.com/index.php?level=picture&id=1

But the actual problem is i have installed plogged in sub directory "http://www.bangalorepackerandmover.com/cards"
and in the above links the directory name is missing, i checked in plogged admin for gallery URL and its mentioned correctly as http://www.bangalorepackerandmover.com/cards/. even after all this i am not able to fix this problem so please please please............... help me out how to fix this issue and to get the correct URL as : http://www.bangalorepackerandmover.com/cards/index.php?level=picture&id=1

Hello:

I'm getting an error during the installation process:

Warning: mysql_num_rows() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given in C:\wamp\www\phototest\plog-admin\includes\install-functions.php on line 511.

I'm running a local WAMP installation using PHP (5.3.5) and mySQL (5.5.8). I set up a new mySQL database called phototest but did not define any fields. Are there more detailed instructions available to set up this software?

Plogger and PHP 5.3

I seem to be getting oodles of errors now when Plogger (the most recent version from CVS) is on a machine with PHP 5.3

Check gallery.nathanr.ca to see what I mean. I get the following errors that I don't know how to fix:

CSS stops working and Images disappear

Hi, I've used Plogger on several websites without any problems but have just installed the new release and am experiencing a frustrating CSS related problem...

Firstly, Plogger install's fine. However, when I make a change to a setting in the admin interface (e.g. change the gallery URL, change the image quality or disable comments etc) the stylesheet stops working (for the Plogger admin page) and the images that I've loaded don't show. I've re-installed Plogger twice and this problem reoccurs.

Do you think this is a problem with Plogger or my host (123 reg)?

Also, can anyone point me to a previous release of Plogger to try that?

CSS & Images not showing

Hello i firstly installed this on the main root directory, and added my design to the index.php

there was no css in the admin or on the image section at first

I have found something on here which has sorted the css on the index.php but i cant get it to work on the admin panel there no images or css !

also if i upload a photo its not showing on the screen

this is the location of where the gallery ment to sit

Multiple Users

Hi All!

I'm developing a new site and I'm looking to add photo upload capabilities for my users. Basically, each user wants to create folders (some folders public, some private, some shared with "friends") add photos, add comments etc.

Plogger seems to have tons of features but it looks like its meant for one user to upload photos for a single site and not to allow multiple users to manage photos for their own accounts.

Is this a correct understanding?
If I am correct, does anyone know of a php script to handle what I want?
If I am NOT correct, what's involved with integrating Plogger with another site? Is there an easy script for managing account integration?
