General Support: error message in image view (Deprecated: Function eregi() )

I have just installed plogger on my website and when i view new images i get an error message for a depreciated function. it reads as follows. <blockquote>Deprecated: Function eregi() is deprecated in /home/thekentw/public_html/plogger-1.0RC1/plog-includes/lib/phpthumb/phpthumb.functions.php</blockquote>
I am very new to php and only have a basic understanding of computer programming. The function is being called several times so i get a colum of error messages above my images. It doesnot seem to affect the performace of the page but it looks pretty unprofessional. Is there a quick and easy way of not displaying error messages. Any help appreciated.
