Just installed Gallery Remote and tried it. I could login but could not retrieve the images and got error saying: Unknown Command. Anyone has experience with Gallery Remote used with Plogger? Thanks.

Isn't that supposed to be for use with that other gallery (gallery.menalto.com)?
I'm not familiar with it, but what could it offer what the manage page of Plogger doesn't provide?

It works with Plogger too, that's how I got started in Plogger development :)

But, only version 2 of the protocol is supported, because that's what I needed. Version 3 (used by Gallery 2) is bit more complicated and I haven't implemented it yet.

Niceday, what version of Gallery Remote did you use?

It says that it is version 1.5. I downloaded from http://gallery.menalto.com/downloads

What's the link to download the older version?

While I have not got it running could you please tell me what can actually do with Gallery Remote? Is it just an alternative to FTP to upload pictures? Or I don't need to import the pictures through Plogger Admin anymore?

Sorry, I thought you were talking about the Perl script with the same name. I have no experience with that Java client as of yet.

And yes, it's an alternative way to add pictures, I implemented it, because it made it easier for me to export pictures from Digikam to Plogger (which I use to download pictures from my camera). And it works just fine for that. And it uses the gallery remote protocol v2. They have a completely new (V3) (and hopefully less braindead) in Gallery 2, which is what that program is probably trying to use.

Sorry to dredge up such an old topic, but it seemed to relate.

I'm in the process of trying to import a quantity of images to my Plogger gallery and was hoping to use the Gallery Remote upload option with the hope that it would read the exif data and rotate images accordingly - something that importing the images directly via plogger apparently can't be accomplished.

So, I thought I'd try the Gallery Remote option, since (in at least the version I currently use) it does support auto-rotate. However, it seems like the version of Gallery Remote that I have is not the supported version, and the version that plogger *does* support is no longer available for download.

    Suggestions?

My only concern is to be able to avoid manually rotating about 50 images out of the batch - how I import is of little concern beyond that as long as it's a "batch" method - I couldn't hack doing them one at a time.
